PRE-SCHOOL OBJECTIVES
Parents who wish to enroll your child in Heritage International School (H.I.S) must place your child on our waiting list.Depending on the individual circumstance of each child, he or she may be required to take an entrance exam
LANGUAGE
- Develop their language abilities through books, games, songs, art and activities
- Increase vocabulary and comprehension.
- Start asking “why” questions.
- To be able to finish a story and express his/her opinion on what might happen next in the story.
- To speak in sentences, and expand their vocabulary.
SPATIAL
- To be able to participate in all kinds of activities like finger painting, painting with brushes, coloring, gluing, playing with clay, and cutting.
- To encourage experimenting, free expression through arts and other activities.
LOGIC/MATHS
- Count and recognize numbers.
- Understand the meaning of numbers using sight and touch senses.
- Count from 1 – 12.
- Understand simple comparisons and superlatives.
- Sort objects by color and size.
- Identify the different colors.
- Remember colors from memory.
- Identify the following shapes: circle, square, triangle, rectangle, oval, star, diamond.
MOTOR SKILLS
- Start to control hands.
- Develop more accurate hand and eye coordination.
- Develop self-reliance in the classroom and in other daily activities, such as dressing up.
- Develop more self-help skills.
- Draw with crayons, work out puzzles, build things, and pretend.
- Develop more physical coordination.
- Recall different school supplies and are familiar and their uses.
MUSIC
SOCIAL
- Start playing with peers.
- Learn to take turns and share.
- Develop friendship and enjoy sharing.
- Begin to understand that other people have feelings and rights, too.
- Generally become more cooperative and enjoy new experiences.
READING READINESS
- Sit quietly for a period of time when a story is read
- Follow series of directions/instructions.
- Recite the alphabet without singing it.
- Memorize several poems/nursery rhymes
- Understand that reading is down from left to right and is able to turn the pages in the right direction.
- Enjoy listening to stories. Point to pictures in the books when asked questions.
WRITING
- Hold a crayon properly when coloring.
- Trace all types of lines and shapes.
- Demonstrate proper posture while drawing/coloring.
